WebJan 25, 2024 · Pitman, one of my cars has a Spal electric fan and shroud assembly. It has two rubber flaps mounted on the bottom of the shroud. Many new cars also have rubber flaps on the shrouds. The flaps allow air to enter the engine compartment when you are moving when the fan isn't running. I can't see how it can hurt.
